The combines are fueled, the trucks are ready- well nearly ready- and, most importantly, the meals are planned but it seems Mother Nature isn’t on the same schedule. Rains and thunderstorms Sunday put yet another delay on the area’s wheat harvest. Producers were hoping to hit the field today but the one-inch-plus rains but a halt to any cutting in central Kansas. So, we will all wait.
Derek said he is hoping to get rolling by the end of the week which means the harvest that was predicted to begin earlier than usual, will start right on cue. I guess Mother Nature didn’t want anyone getting into too big of a hurry.
