New members

Tonight, Derek and I had the pleasure of meeting the newest members of the American Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee. They were good sports during our suite time and seem to be mixing well with current YF&R members. We are excited to welcome all our new members and look forward to working with them in the year ahead.

Because Sunday is going to be a long, busy day, I am giving everyone their Day 6 beef recipe a few minutes early. This recipe is for a marinade and while it doesn’t look like your typical barbecue marinade, it’s a keeper. I promise.

Barbecue Beef Marinade

From the Kansas Beef Council

Ingredients

½ c. chopped onion

1 ½ T. brown sugar (packed)

1 T. vegetable oil

1 T. prepared horseradish

1 T. water

¼ tsp. coarse ground pepper

Directions

Cook onion and brown sugar in oil in small saucepan over medium heat until onion is tender, about 3 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and continue cooking over medium heat 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; cool thoroughly occasionally. Remove from heat; cool thoroughly before adding to beef.
