Spring time means moving time for our cow herd. The greening grass means there are only a few weeks left before mother and baby calves will move to large, lush and green pastures scattered throughout the Flint Hills. Before they move out, we have to make sure all of our mothers and babies are healthy, well-feed and ready to battle the summer heat and bugs. That means bug spray, nutrient-rich food and a good check over from Derek and his dad.
I ventured out with Derek a few nights ago and captured some great photos of our cattle and the men that take care of them (Derek and his father, Doug). I’ll miss seeing the cute calves and I know the guys will miss seeing their calves grow and develop into happy, healthy cows and steers.
